So I left the newly installed chips in there and reverted to the original 5.0 chips at U89 and U105. But in the game I can only fire down (by pressing up). (By pressing up).īonus: In the test menu the controls work perfectly in the SWITCH test. Result: Same behavior as described above with only being able to fire down. Burned and installed all new roms from MAME (version 8.0). Removed all EPROMs from the CPU PCB (11 total). (see above if you're jumping in this thread). Works fine when I put the original 5.0 chips back in. The short version: It's still not working properly with the upgrade. Those are the only eprom-related issues I can think of. I've seen this happen on about 5 eproms ( in 15 years and 1000's of eproms programmed). The eproms will check-out OK on the programmer verification, but will not work These types of failures are very hard to detect because Some eproms do actually "slow down" and the data transfer takes much longer causingĪll kinds of weird stuff. This should match what the original BIN is.Ģ- In some very rare cases, I've seen eproms fail by being "too slow". Loading the original BIN file (.not the doubled one ) and testing your 27c020.Įventhough you are using a 27c020, by setting your programmer to 27c010, You can verify that the file is correct by setting your programmer to 27c010, It seems strange that it affects the controls only.Īssuming the problem is with the eproms, there are few things you can check.ġ- Since you doubled the file to program on the 27c020 eprom, Or perhaps the roms I need are supposed to be patched? Is there something I'm missing for this rom version upgrade? Perhaps the roms that I am using are wrong? I'm using roms from my MAME machine v 0.169. If I revert to my old version 5.0 roms everything works fine: All directions work as they should. Everything behaves as it should and all directions work.Įdit: I neglected to report that I did indeed do a factory restore. What even stranger is that it only shoots down when I press up. I can erase them.)Īll directional movements work fine for both players, but the directional firing only shoots down (both players). (The other ones may have been burned incorrectly. I got the Rev 8.0 to boot up and CMOS by default gets reset. I successfully re-burned new roms and popped them in.
